Enhanced Security at CMGC

Enhanced security measures are being implemented as part of a security pilot program for public meetings held in the Government Center after 5 p.m. This applies to anyone, including the media, who attends City Council and Mecklenburg County Board of Commissioners meetings. Participation in the security pilot is also being considered by CMS for their Board meetings.

In addition to checking baggage, security officers now conduct hand-held metal detector scans similar to searches performed at other uptown venues for public events.

Media representatives will continue to be allowed access into the room prior to the meeting's start time provided they show media credentials to the security guard at the meeting location.
