Water and Sewer Improvements
Historically, CMUD has built projects to meet demands generated by high system growth. During the past few fiscal years, focus has shifted to maintenance as the economy has slowed. More than 85 percent of the system was constructed after 1980 and the older portions are in growing need of rehab or replacement.

Rehabilitation
CMUD invests more than $20 million to restore and maintain aging water and sewer
lines each year.

Fire Protection
CMUD provides water for fire protection throughout Mecklenburg County and is responsible for repairing more than 16,000 hydrants and valves.
