Uptown On-Street Recycling Program
Pedestrians have the opportunity to Recycle it! in Uptown by using any of the 80 on-street recycling containers that currently line the streets. The recycling containers were funded by the Energy grant awarded to the City in 2010.

If you are taking a stroll through Uptown and have recyclables to dispose of, please remember to Recycle it!
What Can Be Recycled

As with the City's residential Recycle it! program, the following items are accepted in the Uptown recycling containers:

  • Aerosol cans
  • Aluminum
  • Bottle caps & lids 
  • Cardboard
  • Glass
  • Juice boxes
  • Milk and juice cartons
  • Paper
  • Pizza boxes 
  • Plastics 1-5 & 7
  • Spiral paper cans
  • Steel/tin cans
What Cannot Be Recycled

Please do not place the following items in the recycling containers:

  • Appliances
  • Auto parts
  • Batteries
  • Ceramics
  • Clothing
  • Garbage
  • Light bulbs
  • Paper plates/cups/napkins
  • Plastics #6
  • Plastic bags
  • Plastic food trays/cups
  • Pots/pans
  • Shredded paper
  • Styrofoam
  • Wire hangers
Reminder: According to state law, plastic numbers 1 & 2 and aluminum should always be recycled and never discarded in the garbage.
