Crime Statistical Summary for the Year to Date 2016:

CMPD ended March 2016, with a 14.1% increase in Index Offenses compared to last year.  Property crime increased by 13.7% while violent crime increased by 16.7%.
  • ​​10 homicides were reported compared to 17, resulting in a decrease of -41.2%.
  • 426 robberies were reported compared to 351, resulting in an increase of 21.4%.
  • 76 rapes were reported compared to 74, resulting in an increase of 2.7%.
  • 937 aggravated assaults were reported compared to 800, resulting in an increase of 17.1%.
  • Burglary overall was up 2.4%, (1368 compared to 1336) with a decrease of -8.1% in residential
    (1005 compared to 1093) and an increase of 49.4% in commercial cases (363 compared to 243).
  • 563 vehicle thefts were reported compared to 440, resulting in an increase of 28.0%.
  • Total larceny cases increased by 15.6% (5751 compared to 4974) with the larcenies from auto up by 34.5%
    (2263 compared to 1683).
  • 50 arson cases were reported compared to 51, resulting in a decrease of -2.0%.​


3 Year Averages

CMPD ended March, 2016, 17.3% above the 3 year average in Index Offenses. Property crime exceeded the three year average by 15.7% while violent crime exceeded it by 26.7%.
  • Homicides were below the three year average by -14.3%. 10 homicides were reported as of the end of March compared to the three year average of 11.7.
  • 426 robberies were reported compared to the three year average of 376.7; robbery exceeded the three year average by 13.1%.
  • 76 rapes were reported compared to the three year average of 65.7; rape exceeded the three year average by 15.7%.
  • 937 aggravated assaults were reported compared to the three year average of 689.7; aggravated assaults exceeded the three year average by 35.9%.
  • Burglary overall exceeded the three year average by 0.4% (1368 compared to 1362.7) with residential cases below the three year average by -6.4% (1005 compared to 1074.0) while commercial cases exceeded the three year average by 25.8% (363 compared to 288.7).
  • 563 vehicle thefts were reported compared to the three year average of 398.3. Vehicle thefts exceeded the three year average by 41.3%.
  • Total larceny cases exceeded the three year average by 17.9% (5751 compared to 4878.3) with the larcenies from auto exceeding the average by 36.7% (2263 compared to 1656.0).
  • 50 arson cases were reported compared to the three year average of 46.3. Arson exceeded the three year average by 7.9%.​
