 Boards and commissions vacancies

Interested in helping to SHAPE YOUR COMMUNITY?
Several vacancies exist on the following boards and commissions to which Charlotte City Council makes                                    appointments. These are volunteer positions on a wide variety of boards with differing time commitments.
All applicants must be registered to vote in Mecklenburg County.

 

                                                                               VACANCIES ON CITY COUNCIL  BOARD

On Monday, June 24, 2013, City Council will make nominations to fill vacant positions on thefollowing boards and committees:  

  1. AIRPORT ADVISORY COMMITTEE 

One appointment for an at-large representative for a three year term beginning August 1, 2013 and ending July 31, 2016. 
Todd Fuller is eligible and would like to be reappointed.
One appointment for an aviation representative for a three year term beginning August 1, 2013 and ending July 31, 2016.
Andrew Riolo has completed two full terms of service and is not eligible for reappointment.
Time commitment:  5 hours/month.  Meets 1st Thursday at 8:00 am at Airport.

  1. CHARLOTTE  HOUSING AUTHORITY

One appointment for an unexpired term beginning immediately and ending December 17, 2013.
 William Miller has resigned.
One appointment for a low income housing resident for an unexpired term beginning immediately
and ending December 17, 2015. 
Maria Simpson has resigned

Time commitment: 3 hours/month. Meets 3rd Tuesday at 5 pm at 1301 South Blvd. 

  1. CHARLOTTE MECKLENBURG PLANNING COMMISSION 

One appointment for an applicant nominated by Charlotte Mecklenburg School Board for a three year term beginning
July 1, 2013 and ending June 30, 2016.  Margaret Nealon is eligible and would like to be reappointed if nominated by the School Board.
Time commitment: 24 hours/month. Meets 1st Monday at 12 noon at Government Center, 600 E. Fourth St.
 

  1. CHARLOTTE REGIONAL VISITORS AUTHORITY

One appointment for an unexpired term for a representative of a hotel/convention beginning immediately and ending June 30, 2014.
 Glenn Simon has resigned.
Time commitment:  2 hours/every other month.  Meets 2nd Wednesday at 8:00 am at 501 S. College St.
 

  1. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ADVISORY BOARD

Two appointments for three year terms beginning September 22, 2013 and ending September 21, 2016.
LiMia Bowen and Jacqueline Dienemann are eligible and would like to be reappointed.
Time commitment: 3 hours/month. Meets 2nd Monday at 6 pm at Hal Marshall Center 700 N. Tryon 2nd Fl.

  1. KEEP CHARLOTTE BEAUTIFUL

One appointment for an unexpired term beginning immediately and ending June 30, 2015.
Christine Edwards has resigned.
Time commitment: 1-2 hours/month. Meets 1st Tuesday at 11 am at Government Center, 600 E. Fourth St.
 

7.   MINT MUSEUM BOARD OF TRUSTEES
One appointment for a three year term beginning August 1, 2013 and ending July 31, 2016.
Patricia Tracey has completed two full terms of service and is not eligible for reappointment.
Time commitment:  4 hours/bi-monthly.  Meets 5 times per year at 4 pm at Mint Museum Uptown

8. STORM WATER ADVISORY COMMITTEE
One appointment for a General Contractor representative for a three-year term beginning July 1, 2013
and ending June 30, 2016.
Matthew Roper has completed two full three-year terms of service and is not eligible for reappointment.
Time commitment:  4-5 hours/monthly.  Meets 3rd Thursday at 4:30pm at Hal Marshall Services Center,
700 N. Tryon in Auditorium.

9. 
WASTE MANAGEMENT ADVISORY BOARD
Two recommendations for appointments by the Board of County Commissioners for three year terms:
one beginning October 1, 2013 and ending September 30, 2016 and the other beginning July 14, 2013 and ending July 13, 2016.
Patrick Darrow and Jennifer White are eligible and would like to be reappointed.
Time commitment: 4 hours/month. Meets 3rd Tuesday at 11:30 am at Hal Marshall Center 700 N. Tryon


           All applicants must be registered voters in Mecklenburg County.
                  Appointees serve on a voluntary basis without compensation.

          All Applications must be completed with signature and returned to the City Clerk's Office
No later than 5:00 pm on FRIDAY, JUNE 14, 2013.
