Several vacancies exist on the following boards and commissions
to which Charlotte City Council makes appointments. 
 
All applicants must be registered to vote in Mecklenburg County. 

VACANCIES ON CITY COUNCIL BOARDS & COMMISSIONS 

The City Manager will be making appointments to the following Board.
 
A.   PASSENGER VEHICLE FOR HIRE BOARD
§  Three appointments for unexpired terms beginning immediately and ending July 1, 2017. Ed Ferris, Jonathan Fine and Evelyn Newman have completed two full terms of service.
Time commitment: 1-2 hours/month. Meets 1st Tuesday monthly at 1:00 pm at 4150 Wilkinson Blvd, West Services Center.
 
* Applications will continue to be accepted for this Board until appointments have been made.
 
 
On Monday, September 22, 2014, City Council will make nominations to fill vacant positions on the following boards and committees:
 
 
A.   BICYCLE ADVISORY COMMITTEE
§  Two appointments for three-year terms beginning January 1, 2015 and ending December 31, 2018.
Christopher Gladora and Cindy Bean are eligible and interested in being considered for reappointment.
Time commitment: 1-2 hours/month. Meets 4th Thurs monthly at 6:00 pm at the Government Center Bldg, 600 E. 4th St.
 
B.   CHARLOTTE COMMUNITY CAPITAL LOAN FUND
§  One appointment for a three-year term beginning October 2, 2014 and ending October 1, 2017.
Nigel Long has served to complete terms and is not eligible for reappointment.
Time commitment: 2 hours/quarterly. Meets 3rd Tues quarterly at 8:30 am at the Self Help Credit Union, 926 Elizabeth Ave.
 
C.    CHARLOTTE-MECKLENBURG COALITION FOR HOUSING
§  One appointment to fill a new position for a representative of the hospital industry beginning immediately and ending June 30, 2015 and then continuing for a full three-year term beginning July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2018.
§  One appointment to fill a new position for a homeless or formerly homeless representative beginning immediately and ending June 30, 2015 and then continuing for a full three-year term beginning July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2018.
Time commitment: 2-4 hours/month. Meets 4th Thursday at 11:30 am at Old City Hall.
 
* Individuals with experience in mental health, homelessness or dealing with vulnerable populations are encouraged to apply.
   
D.   COMMUNITY RELATIONS COMMITTEE
§  Two appointments for unexpired terms beginning immediately and ending June 30, 2016.
Glenn Thomas, Jr. and Madelyn Baer have resigned.
Time commitment:1-2 hours/monthly. Meets 3rd Tues at 4:00pm at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1000 E. Morehead
 
E.    HOUSING APPEALS BOARD
§  One appointment for a three-year term beginning January 1, 2015 and ending December 31, 2018.
Charles Assenco is eligible and interested in being considered for reappointment.
Time commitment: 2-3 hours/monthly. Meets 2nd Tuesday monthly at 1:00 pm at Old City Hall.
 
F.    TREE ADVISORY COMMISSION
§  Three appointments for three-year terms beginning December 14, 2014 and ending December 13, 2017.
Fred Dodson, Jr. and Joe Zuyus are eligible and interested in being considered for reappointment. Matthew McLaren has completed two full terms of service and is not eligible for reappointment.
Time commitment: 3-15 hours/monthly. Meets 3rd Tues monthly at 5:00 pm at the Government Center Bldg, 600 E. 4th St.
 
 
             
 
 All applicants must be registered voters in Mecklenburg County.
 
Appointees serve on a voluntary basis without compensation.

All applications must be completed and submitted to the City Clerk’s Office no later than:
Thursday, September 11, 2014 at 5:00 PM.
   You may submit an application for any Board or Commission of interest for consideration the next time there is a vacancy. 
Applications are kept on file for one (1) year.
