 Boards and commissions vacancies
Interested in helping to SHAPE YOUR COMMUNITY?
Several vacancies exist on the following boards and commissions
to which Charlotte City Council makes appointments. 
 
These are volunteer positions on a wide variety of boards
with differing time commitments.

All applicants must be registered to vote in Mecklenburg County. 

 

VACANCIES ON CITY COUNCIL BOARDS & COMMISSIONS 

 
On Monday, August 25, 2014, City Council will make nominations to fill vacant positions on the following boards and committees:
 
 
A.   CHARLOTTE-MECKLENBURG COALITION FOR HOUSING
§  One appointment for a legal representative for an unexpired term beginning immediately and ending June 30, 2015.
David Jones has resigned.
Time commitment: 4-6 hours/month. Meets 4th Thursday monthly at 11:30 am at various locations.
 
B.   HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION
§  One appointment for a resident owner of Hermitage Court for an unexpired term
beginning immediately and ending June 30, 2015.
Lisa Yarbrough has failed to meet the City Council attendance requirement.
Time commitment: 10 hours/month. Meets 2nd Wednesday monthly at 3:00 pm at the Government Cntr Bldg, 600 E. 4th St.
 
C.    KEEP CHARLOTTE BEAUTIFUL
§  Two appointments for unexpired terms beginning immediately, one ending June 30, 2015
and the other ending on June 30, 2017.
Hung Chau and Mayada Hawkins have resigned.
Time commitment: 2-4 hours/month. Meets 1st Tuesday monthly at 11:30 am at Old City Hall.
 
D.   TREE ADVISORY COMMISSION
§  One appointment for an unexpired term beginning immediately and ending December 13, 2016.
Vincent Hanes has resigned.
Time commitment: 2-8 hours/monthly. Meets 3rd Tuesday monthly at 5:00 pm at the Government Cntr Bldg, 600 E. 4th St.
                                                                     
  
  All applicants must be registered voters in Mecklenburg County.
 
Appointees serve on a voluntary basis without compensation.

Applications are also available in the City Clerk’s Office Mon-Fri 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or at www.charmeck.org
 
All applications must be completed with signature and returned to the City Clerk’s Office no later than:
Thursday, August 7th, 2014 at 5:00 PM.
 
 You may submit an application for any Board or Commission of interest for consideration the next time there is a vacancy. 
Applications are kept on file for one (1) year.
