Artist - David Wilson, Apex, NC

North Carolina artist, David Wilson will impact the glass windscreens in 6 bus shelters along Beatties Ford Road between I-485 and LaSalle.  The artist has visited the project site and met with members of the Historic West End community to research ideas relevant to the local neighborhoods. He will also visit JCSU to meet with faculty and students to learn about the University's impact on the community.

David is currently developing his concept and will work with the project team over the next year to integrate his art in accordance with the project schedule.  The project is expected to be complete in the spring of 2013.

David Wilson earned a bachelor’s degree from Hampton University and has exhibited extensively in North Carolina. He is best known in Charlotte for the large, colorful architectural glass mural he designed for the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African American Arts and Culture. In 2011 he completed a Summer Affiliate Residency at McColl Center for Visual Art and was featured in the Gantt Center’s Beyond Bearden: Creative Responses an exhibit of contemporary artists influenced by the work of Romare Bearden.
